Roy's Grille started as a tribute to one man and grew into Irmo's most beloved BBQ spot — built on family recipes, scratch-made everything, and a chef who's never left the kitchen.
Named for Leroy Carter
Chef Chris Williams opened Roy's on September 16, 2014, in honor of his late grandfather, Leroy Carter — a man whose spirit lives in every plate that leaves the kitchen.
Raised in southern kitchens
Chris grew up in Olar, South Carolina, learning from his mother and grandmother — where nothing came from a box. Those lessons are still the foundation here.
From a tiny spot to Irmo
Roy's started as a packed little spot in Lexington with lines out the door. In 2022, Chris moved the whole operation to Irmo — and the regulars followed.
Made from scratch, every time
Bacon cured in-house, rubs blended by hand, five signature sauces made from scratch — Ole Gold, Sweet Sassy Red, Bold & Beautiful, RC's Vinegar, and Tin Man. Even the Carolina Korean Cheesesteak is pure Roy's.
No corners cut, ever
Chris's rule is simple: no corners cut, no expenses spared. He's still in the kitchen every day, and you taste it in every bite.
